German Ambassador Honors Victims Of Russian Occupation In Yahidne
"Four years ago, Yahidne in the Chernihiv region was liberated. Over 300 people were held in a basement, dozens were killed – 27 days of horror under Russian occupation. On the basement walls, there are children's drawings and notes about those who died. Recently, Ambassador Thoms visited Yahidne to honor the victims and support the community," the embassy stated.

They forced residents out of their homes and gathered them in a school basement. In total, Russian troops held 367 people in the 197 sq. m school basement, including 50 children and several infants, the youngest being one and a half months old. Eleven villagers died due to the inhumane conditions, and another ten were executed by the occupiers.
