Zelensky Calls Middle East Agreements Historic

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The head of state made these remarks while speaking with journalists, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.

“I believe these are historic agreements. We have agreed on strategic cooperation in the field of MilTech and other areas. We are talking about ten-year agreements,” Zelensky noted.

He noted that this involves mutual assistance. Ukraine is particularly interested in protection against ballistic threats.

“We also face challenges related to energy, diesel, and so on. Therefore, in my view, all our agreements, which will be legally formalized, are very important for our state. Ukraine has never had such agreements in this region before,” the President noted.

He reported that Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, is currently in the Middle East, where he will hold a series of meetings.

As reported, on March 27, the President of Ukraine began a tour of the Middle East, during which he visited Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Jordan.

In Doha, Zelensky signed an agreement with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on a mutually beneficial partnership in the defense sector for at least 10 years. A similar agreement was also signed with Saudi Arabia.

During an online briefing with journalists, the President stated that a similar document will be signed with the UAE as well.
