Bannu Unites For Peace: Major March Calls For End To Violence And Crime
The participants raised slogans in favor of peace and against violence, while expressing serious concern over the rising crime in the city.
The speakers announced that on April 2, a grand peace jirga will be held at the Jamaat-e-Islami Bannu office, inviting all schools of thought, political parties, tribal elders, and civil society members to devise a joint action plan.
The speakers said that target killings, extortion, and kidnappings for ransom are continuously increasing in Bannu and the southern districts, leaving the public in a state of insecurity.

They made it clear that any kind of operation in Bannu and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in general will not be acceptable. They also demanded that missing persons be presented in courts and all armed groups' centers be immediately closed. The speakers rejected any interference from both“good and bad Taliban.”
The leaders emphasized maintaining the province's constitutional rights over natural resources, especially oil and gas, and demanded the withdrawal of cases against elders and the release of detained individuals following the July 19, 2024 protest.
Furthermore, they strongly criticized road closures and demanded that major roads, including Miranshah Road, be reopened immediately. They said security barriers have disrupted traffic systems and caused serious difficulties for the public.
The speakers held the government and security agencies responsible for the law and order situation and demanded immediate and effective measures, reiterating their resolve to continue efforts at all levels to establish peace in the region.
The peace march was led by Professor Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa South, Baz Muhammad Khan of the Awami National Party, Dr. Pir Sahib Zaman, and other regional elders.
The march started from Lucky Gate and passed through various markets of the city, eventually taking the form of a public gathering at Pretty Gate.
