UAE’s Air Defense Intercepts Iranian Missile Strikes
(MENAFN) The United Arab Emirates announced on Sunday that its air defense systems successfully intercepted attacks involving missiles and uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran.
The Defense Ministry explained that explosions heard across various parts of the country were caused by the interception of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones. It clarified that these blasts resulted from defensive operations carried out in the air.
Tensions in the region have persisted since February 28, when Israel and the US initiated airstrikes against Iran, resulting in over 1,300 fatalities so far, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has responded with drone and missile attacks aimed at Israel, as well as countries like Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf states hosting US military forces, leading to casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and aviation.
