St Kitts Nevis Delegation Visits Taiwan

(MENAFN- Caribbean News Global) TAIPEI, (TaiwanToday) – Taiwan's foreign minister Lin Chia-lung received a delegation from St Kitts and Nevis March 12 in Taipei City to exchange views on issues spanning energy transition, personnel cultivation, smart medicine, sustainable development and tourism.

According to the ministry of foreign affairs, the group was led by minister of public infrastructure, energy and utilities Konris Maynard and minister of sustainable development Joyelle Clarke.

Lin said St Kitts and Nevis is located at the hub of the Caribbean and possesses abundant tourism resources, adding that the island welcomed more than one million cruise passengers in 2025. He anticipated that the two sides would expand cooperation on sustainable tourism to bring economic growth and introduce the delights of St. Kitts and Nevis to more visitors.

The minister also stressed the importance of personnel cultivation, citing as an example the Taiwan Scholarship that offers opportunities for the country's young people to study and use their knowledge to advance social and economic development after returning home. He also thanked the ally's unwavering voicing of support for Taiwan's participation in international organizations.

In response, Maynard said the delegates have observed Taiwan's progress on carbon trading, green energy, the circular economy and sustainable development, adding that such experience will serve as useful policymaking references.

Echoing Maynard's remarks, Clarke commended Taiwan's achievements in promoting the circular economy and expressed hope that her country will continue to benefit from Taiwan's experience.

According to MOFA, the delegates were hosted the same day by deputy minister Chen Ming-chi, who praised the 43-year bilateral relations for benefiting both nations.
