(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)
Amman, March 17 (Petra) -- The Cabinet has approved an increase of JD70 per month in the cost-of-living allowance for employees of the Jerusalem Waqf and Al Aqsa Mosque Affairs Department, to be added to their salaries starting from March 1.
Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Mohammad Khalaileh said the decision aligns with royal directives supporting Islamic Awqaf employees in Jerusalem and reinforces their efforts in serving Al-Aqsa Mosque and preserving its Arab and Islamic identity.
He noted that 800 employees will benefit from the increase, which will be funded from the Ministry of Awqaf's budget allocations.
The Jerusalem Awqaf Department, under the umbrella of the Hashemite custodianship, oversees full supervision of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic endowments in Jerusalem. Its responsibilities include restoration, security, and management of educational and religious institutions to safeguard the city's Arab and Islamic identity.
