FISME-IPFC's National IP Yatra Focuses On MSME Innovation, IP Protection And Valuation

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Mar 17 (KNN) The Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME), through its Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre (FISME-IPFC), in partnership with the State Bank of India Centre of Excellence, Manesar Industries Welfare Association (MIWA) and Gurgaon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), organised a two-day National Level IP Yatra Programme in Gurugram.

The event was held on March 13 at the SBI Academy, Gurugram, and on March 14 at a hotel venue in Sector 29, bringing together MSMEs, industry experts and financial institutions.

Inaugurating the programme, Chandra Bhushan Kumar Singh, General Manager at the State Bank Academy, highlighted the importance of institutional credit and intellectual property (IP) valuation for MSME growth.

He said the SBI and its Centre of Excellence would extend support to MSMEs and organise more such workshops on trademark search and patents.

FISME President Rakesh Chhabra said MSMEs play a critical role in employment, innovation and exports, but emphasised that innovation must be protected and strategically leveraged through intellectual property rights (IPR).

He noted that MSMEs face challenges in IP filing, commercialisation and litigation, and said the FISME-IPFC, set up with support from the Ministry of MSME, aims to provide guidance on IP registration and reimbursement processes.

GCCI President Vikas Jain underscored the need for strengthening MSME competitiveness through IP protection amid rising Chinese competition and global uncertainties.

The programme focused on enhancing awareness of IPR among MSMEs, with expert sessions on patents, industrial design and geographical indications, along with discussions on IP commercialisation and legal aspects.

Sessions also covered leveraging IP for business valuation, access to credit and equity financing, as well as compliance requirements such as data protection and workplace regulations.

Experts from the banking and finance sector provided insights on MSME financing options and the role of intellectual property in improving credit access.

The initiative aimed to equip MSMEs with knowledge on protecting and monetising their innovations while leveraging government support schemes.
