European Union Provides €189 Million To Support Reforms In Moldova

According to Ukrinform, the European Commission's press service reported this.

“Out of this, €173 million will be paid directly into the state budget, and €16 million will support projects in Moldova through the Neighbourhood Investment Platform. Today's disbursement comes on top of €289 million provided to Moldova in 2025,” the statement reads.

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos stated that Moldova has once again fulfilled its commitments to the EU.“Implemented reforms bring real benefits, from less paperwork to better online services and a cleaner environment. When our partners deliver, the EU should deliver too. Our funds will directly support Moldovans and help the country continue its EU path,” she stated.

The key reforms achieved were aimed, among other things, at reducing the administrative burden on businesses, strengthening cybersecurity and emergency response, promoting the digitization of public services, increasing budget transparency, and strengthening anti-fraud systems, asset recovery, and the judicial system.

National electricity and balancing markets were launched, and the deployment of renewable energy was expanded, the European Commission reported.

As previously reported, as part of the Reform and Growth Facility, Moldova is implementing reforms to increase the country's attractiveness to foreign investment. To this end, in September 2025, the European Commission announced a call for private-sector proposals to stimulate investment in Moldova. The initiative aims to create a series of transformative private investments in Moldova that are eligible for support from the European Commission and partner financial institutions.
