Doha, March 17 (Petra) -- His Majesty King Abdullah II and Qatar Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, during a meeting in Doha on Tuesday, discussed the dangerous current developments in the region.
The two leaders reiterated their condemnation of Iran's ongoing attacks on Jordan and Qatar, emphasizing the need for these attacks to cease immediately as they constitute an assault on the sovereignty of states and a violation of international law.
The two leaders expressed their opposition to attempts to drag Arab states into a conflict in which they are not involved, stressing the need to utilize dialogue and diplomatic channels to resolve conflicts.
The two leaders also emphasized the importance of maintaining bilateral coordination, and called for stepping up regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore stability in the region.
His Majesty reaffirmed that Jordan is taking all necessary measures to safeguard its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens.
The King warned of the danger of the current developments being exploited to restrict worshippers' access to Al Aqsa Mosque and create new facts on the ground in the West Bank and Gaza.
His Majesty also underscored the need to support Lebanon's efforts to maintain its security, stability, and sovereignty.
