The scheme is aimed at providing immediate medical aid during the critical“golden hour” following a road accident. Under the programme, treatment expenses will be covered for up to seven days from the date of the accident, improving the chances of survival of victims.
Officials said several departments, including the transport, health, police and district administration, will work in coordination to ensure effective implementation of the scheme and prompt response to road accidents.
The government has urged the public to report road accidents immediately to the nearest police station or control room so that victims can be shifted quickly to designated hospitals for treatment under the scheme.
