Eid Forecast: Rain, Thunderstorms, And Winds To Hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

From tonight until March 20, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is expected to experience strong winds and intermittent rain accompanied by thunderstorms, while snowfall is forecast in the upper regions.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert in view of the potentially severe weather, instructing relevant departments and district administrations to take precautionary measures.

According to PDMA, areas including Upper and Lower Dir, Upper and Lower Chitral, Swat, Upper and Lower Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Shangla, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Buner, Malakand, Bajaur, and Mohmand may experience rain with thunderstorms and snowfall in mountainous areas.

Similarly, rain is forecast in Kohat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Khyber, Orakzai, Kurram, Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, Tank, and Dera Ismail Khan.

The PDMA further warned that heavy rains may cause landslides in Abbottabad, Battagram, Buner, Chitral, Dir, Khyber, Kohistan, Kolai-Palas, Kurram, Malakand, Mansehra, Mohmand, Orakzai, Shangla, Swat, Torghar, and North Waziristan. There is also a possibility of lightning strikes in some locations.

PDMA cautioned that strong winds and rain could damage weak houses, electricity poles, billboards, and solar panels. Cloudy weather is also expected during the Eid holidays.

The authority has directed all district administrations to ensure timely cleaning of drainage systems and to provide advance warnings to local residents, tourists, and travelers. Farmers and livestock owners are advised to move crops and animals to safe locations.

PDMA has instructed relevant departments to ensure the availability of emergency services, medical aid, food, and other essential supplies, and has appealed to the public to avoid unnecessary travel during the severe weather.
