Deliveroo Launches ‘Roo-turning the Favour’ Initiative to Recognise Riders

(MENAFN- Soul Communications) Deliveroo has launched “Roo-turning the Favour”, an initiative developed in partnership with the UAE Food Bank to support and recognise the commitment of riders who continue to serve communities across the UAE, not only during a challenging period, but also throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

As part of the initiative, Deliveroo employees gathered at a UAE Food Bank facility to personally pack and distribute thousands of grocery kits containing household essentials for riders. The gesture recognises the important role they play in ensuring customers across the country continue to have access to food, groceries and everyday essentials throughout the holy month.

Each grocery kit includes a selection of staple items such as chickpeas, lentils, flour, rice, oil, sugar and salt, along with everyday pantry essentials including tea, milk powder, tomato paste, pasta, canned food, dates, spices and biscuits, offering a balanced mix of ready-to-eat items and ingredients commonly used to prepare meals.

Yazan Aburaqabeh, Director of Operations at Deliveroo, said: “Every day, riders demonstrate remarkable dedication and professionalism, ensuring households across the UAE continue to have reliable access to their essential food and groceries. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to supporting the community while following government directives and prioritising their safety. We are also thankful to be working alongside the UAE Food Bank to support riders in a meaningful and practical way.”

Manal bin Yaroof, Head of the Executive Team at the UAE Food Bank, said: “Strategic partnerships play a vital role in advancing our mission to build a sustainable and inclusive food support system. Through our collaboration with Deliveroo, we are able to reach riders across the UAE with nutritious meals and grocery boxes during Ramadan, demonstrating how coordinated action can deliver meaningful support to the community.”

Deliveroo has also rolled out an initiative in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the UAE Food Bank, to distribute Iftar meals to riders at seven RTA rest stations across the city. Riders visiting stations in Satwa, Al Ghubaiba, Gold Souq, Oud Metha, Union, Jafiliya, and Deira City Center will receive Iftar meals including biryani, fruit, laban up, water, and dates.

These initiatives extend Deliveroo’s long-standing partnership with UAE Food Bank, which has already distributed over 500,000 meals to various communities through successful campaigns, reflecting the company’s commitment to supporting both riders and the wider community.
