David Murdoch is a Distinguished Professor at Ōtākou Whakaihu Waka/University of Otago and Chief Scientist for the New Zealand Institute for Public Health and Forensic Science (PHF Science). An infectious diseases physician and clinical microbiologist by background, his main research interests are the epidemiology, diagnosis and prevention of respiratory tract and bloodstream infections, and he has had a long career in pneumonia research and advocacy, nationally and globally.
