Lisa Doyle
- Postdoctoral Research Fellow, Trinity College Dublin
I completed a BA at Trinity College Dublin in Classical Civilisations and Modern Irish, followed by an MSc in Classics at the University of Edinburgh. I returned to Trinity to undertake my doctorate as part of a funded project analysing the scholia (premodern commentary notes) on Apollonius of Rhodes' Hellenistic epic, the Argonautica. I received my PhD in 2024 and subsequently took up the position of Teaching Fellow in Ancient Greek Literature at the University of Birmingham (2024-5). I am now back at Department of Classics, TCD, as a postdoctoral research fellow. The main objective of this fellowship is to turn my PhD thesis into a book: 'Notes and Knowledge: Reading the Scholia to Apollonius' Argonautica'.
My main research interests include ancient Greek scholarship and scholia, rhetoric, fragmentary literature, and the intellectual culture of the Hellenistic period.
