Loud sounds heard across parts of the UAE since the Iranian attack began were the result of air defence systems intercepting ballistic missiles and fighter jets targeting drones and cruise missiles, the Ministry of Defence confirmed on Monday.

As authorities continue to monitor developments following the events that began on February 28, updated official figures indicate continued interception operations, additional injuries and material damage, alongside the commencement of special flight operations.

Officials again urged the public to rely exclusively on official sources and refrain from circulating rumours or unverified information. Here is what authorities confirmed at the end of day three of the attack:

Ministry of Defence: Updated interception totals

. 9 ballistic missiles intercepted on March 2.
. 6 cruise missiles intercepted.
. 148 drones intercepted.
. 10 minor injuries reported.

. Since February 28, 174 ballistic missiles detected.
. 161 destroyed.
. 13 fell into the sea.

. 8 cruise missiles detected and destroyed.

. 689 Iranian drones detected.
. 645 intercepted.
. 44 landed within the country's territory.

. 3 fatalities.
. 68 minor injuries.

. Interceptions led to minor to moderate material damage to a number of civilian properties.

The ministry strongly condemned the targeting, affirming that the UAE reserves the right to respond and remains fully prepared to address any threats.

Abu Dhabi: Musaffah fuel tank terminal fire

. Authorities responded to a fire resulting from the targeting of a Musaffah fuel tank terminal by a drone.
. The situation was promptly contained.
. No injuries were reported and there was no impact on operations.

Abu Dhabi: ICAD and Mussafah debris incidents

. Drone interception debris fell on a warehouse in ICAD and a commercial facility in the Mussafah area.
. No injuries were reported.
. Minor building damage was recorded.

Ras Al Khaimah: Al Hamra Village

. Authorities dealt with debris falling in the Al Hamra Village area following the successful interception of a drone.
. No injuries were reported.

GCAA: Exceptional flight operations begin

. The General Civil Aviation Authority announced the commencement of exceptional flight operations at UAE airports.
. Stranded passengers will be able to depart in line with schedules communicated by airlines.
. Passengers whose flights were impacted are urged not to proceed to airports until contacted by their airlines to avoid congestion and ensure smooth processing.

NCEMA: Continue normal activities

. The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority advised residents to carry out their usual activities while exercising caution and care.
