Türkiye Raises Security Alert for Ships in Strait of Hormuz

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s General Directorate of Maritime Affairs announced on Sunday that the security level for Turkish-flagged vessels in the Strait of Hormuz has been raised to Level 3. This follows reports of Iranian radio broadcasts reportedly restricting ship passage through the channel.

The directorate urged mariners to monitor navigation updates in the region and, if necessary, contact the Main Search and Rescue Coordination Center (AAKKM).

The move comes amid a joint US-Israeli attack on Iran on Saturday, which led to retaliatory Iranian missile and drone strikes. Tehran confirmed on Sunday the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and several top officials in the strikes.
