Hezbollah Strikes Israeli Defense Site South of Haifa

(MENAFN) Hezbollah launched a coordinated rocket and drone offensive from southern Lebanon early Monday, striking an Israeli missile defense installation located south of Haifa in what the militant group framed as a retaliatory operation.

The Lebanese group confirmed in an official statement that the assault targeted the Mishmar HaCarmel air defense facility, with the strike executed just past midnight.

Hezbollah characterized the bombardment as a "legitimate defensive response," directly linking the operation to the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The group maintained that ongoing Israeli military campaigns and targeted assassinations have left retaliation not only justified but necessary.

In pointed language aimed at regional and international stakeholders, Hezbollah demanded that those responsible bring an end to what it described as US-Israeli aggression against Lebanon — warning that further Israeli strikes and killings would continue to draw military responses.

The attack marks a significant escalation along the Lebanese-Israeli front, raising fresh alarm over the potential for a wider regional conflict as tensions between the two sides show no sign of abating.
