Six Killed as Helicopter Goes Down in Kenya

(MENAFN) Six people lost their lives Saturday evening when a commercial helicopter went down in Kenya's Nandi county, northwestern region, local officials confirmed — marking one of the country's deadliest aviation incidents in recent memory.

Kenya's parliamentary speaker, Moses Wetang'ula, officially confirmed that lawmaker Johana Ng'eno was among those killed in the crash, lending the tragedy an immediate political dimension that reverberated through the nation's capital.

Local media reported the aircraft had attempted an emergency landing before erupting into flames, with treacherous weather conditions — dense fog and severely reduced visibility — believed to have played a central role in the disaster. The combination of a failed emergency descent and a subsequent fire left no survivors among those on board.

Authorities have yet to release the full identities of the remaining victims as investigations into the cause of the crash get underway.
