Doha, Qatar: The“Iftar Saem” tent in Al Wakrah is witnessing a daily turnout of nearly 1,500 fasting individuals as part of the“For the Reward of the Doers of Good” initiative, organised and supervised by the General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs.

The initiative falls under a comprehensive institutional endowment project that spans ten locations across the country, with the aim of providing Iftar meals to approximately 360,000 fasting individuals throughout the holy month of Ramadan.

The project operates within a structured endowment system designed to maximise impact and ensure the sustainability of rewards, in implementation of donors' conditions and with the generous support of benefactors and philanthropists. The Ministry provides complete, well-balanced meals prepared according to the highest standards of quality and food safety.

The Ramadan tents are equipped with comfortable, air-conditioned facilities to safeguard the dignity and well-being of beneficiaries. Careful organisation ensures smooth distribution and a comfortable experience for attendees.

Al Wakrah tent stands out as one of the largest sites, with an estimated 45,000 beneficiaries expected to be served there by the end of the month. The scene reflects the spirit of solidarity and compassion that characterises Qatari society during the blessed month.

Beyond providing meals, the project includes a comprehensive religious outreach programme aimed at strengthening Islamic awareness and promoting authentic values, particularly among workers. Awareness lectures are delivered in several languages, including Urdu, in cooperation with the Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Centre.

Held several days a week for half an hour before the Maghrib call to prayer, these sessions allow fasting individuals to combine spiritual nourishment with physical sustenance in a well-organised and faith-filled atmosphere.

The project is implemented through wide-ranging institutional partnerships with several government entities, including the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Municipality. These collaborations ensure compliance with regulatory and health requirements, enhance operational efficiency, and uphold the highest standards of governance and transparency in managing endowment resources.

The General Directorate of Endowments affirmed that the initiative represents a model of sustainable endowment work, combining the humanitarian dimension of feeding fasting individuals with the educational mission of spreading religious awareness, supported by digital management systems and close field supervision.

The Directorate also called on benefactors to continue supporting the initiative, citing the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) saying:“Whoever provides Iftar for a fasting person will have a reward like his, without detracting from the reward of the fasting person in the slightest.”

Through its ten sites across the country, the“Iftar Saem” project presents a bright and organised model of institutional charitable work in Qatar, where tables of mercy harmoniously integrate with religious outreach-making Ramadan a season of multiplied impact and enduring reward.
