The process of displacement from Tirah Valley in District Khyber has entered its final stages, and according to the district administration, 95 percent of the relocation has been completed so far.

Assistant Commissioner Bara, Talha Rafiq, stated that a total of 26,962 affected families have been registered. Financial assistance for transportation has already been provided to them, while further relief payments will begin soon.

According to the administration, five different centers have been established for the registration of Tirah Valley's displaced people. At these centers, biometric verification is being carried out through NADRA, while SIM cards are being issued through private companies.

The Assistant Commissioner said that a committee is also reviewing registered individuals to identify any non-local or incorrect entries. He added that this process is being carried out to ensure transparency and that no irregularities will be tolerated.

According to NADRA sources, registration of 11,472 families has been completed at the Paindi Chena registration point, 5,079 at Nawiyah Malik Din Khel, 2,412 at Qambarabad, 4,120 at Al-Haj Market, and 3,879 families at Takiya Markaz Qambar Khel.

Meanwhile, a national jirga was convened under the leadership of former federal minister Hameedullah Jan Afridi to address the issues of Tirah Valley's displaced people. Various political and social figures attended the jirga.

The jirga's declaration demanded that both the provincial and federal governments immediately implement agreements reached with the 24-member Tirah Committee. It warned that if the announced schedule for rehabilitation and return is not fully implemented, the Afridi tribes will decide to return on their own.

On the other hand, sources say that after Tirah Valley, displacement of local residents belonging to the Akakhel tribe of Tirah is likely to begin this week.

According to Bara Tehsil Chairman Mufti Kafeel Afridi, work is underway to establish registration points for the affected members of the Akakhel tribe, and more than 4,000 people are expected to be displaced.

At the political level, questions are also being raised regarding the registration process. Awami National Party's district president Abdul Razzaq Afridi, during a press conference at Bara Press Club, alleged that the committee established at Khyber House is canceling the registration of nearly 50 percent of affected families during verification, which he termed gross injustice.

He said that registration based on polio data is adversely affecting families without children, even though they are permanent residents of Tirah Valley.

Meanwhile, the displaced persons have formally launched a movement under the name“Tehreek Tirah Mutasireen” and have set up a protest camp in front of Bara Press Club.

Leaders of the movement said that a shortage of staff and slow processing at registration points are increasing difficulties, and urged the government to immediately increase the number of counters and staff.

In the same context, ANP provincial president Mian Iftikhar Hussain, after distributing relief packages among the affected people in Qambarabad Bara, said that ANP stands with the displaced and will continue to raise their voice at every forum.

On this occasion, in the first phase of relief efforts worth Rs 50 million, the Khudai Khidmatgar Organization distributed ration packages among 150 families, while further assistance will be delivered to other areas in phases.

Overall, the situation in Tirah Valley reflects a serious humanitarian and administrative challenge. On one hand, the administration is emphasizing transparency and order, while on the other, political parties and the displaced people are expressing concerns over the registration and relief mechanisms.

Timely assistance, transparent registration, and political coordination are being seen as the key to effectively resolving the crisis.
