Türkiye’s TPAO, Chevron Strike Deal for Global Energy Push

(MENAFN) Turkish Petroleum (TPAO), the nation's state-owned energy corporation, has entered a strategic partnership agreement with American petroleum giant Chevron, targeting collaborative opportunities in hydrocarbon exploration and extraction, Turkey's energy and natural resources minister revealed Thursday.

"With this Memorandum of Understanding, we aim to develop joint projects both in Türkiye and on an international scale," Alparslan Bayraktar posted on Turkish social platform NSosyal.

The minister outlined that international ventures will bolster existing operations at the Gabar field in southeastern Turkey and Black Sea projects, while advancing Turkish Petroleum's ambitious objective to achieve worldwide presence with output reaching 1 million barrels.

Bayraktar added: "We will soon sign new agreements for different international partnerships and share the concrete projects we have implemented with our nation."

This memorandum of understanding represents the second major international collaboration for Turkish Petroleum, following a prior accord with ESSO Exploration International Limited, an ExxonMobil subsidiary. That earlier framework encompasses fresh exploration zones across the Black Sea and Mediterranean regions, alongside additional prospective territories.

The dual partnerships signal Turkey's intensifying drive to expand domestic energy production capacity while establishing TPAO as a competitive player in global petroleum markets through strategic alliances with Western industry leaders.
