Teachers Must Prepare Students For AI Disruptions: LG

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Jammu- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday stressed the need for forward-thinking teachers who can prepare students to face future uncertainties, including disruptions caused by Artificial Intelligence, climate change and rapid technological shifts.

He was speaking at the Inspirational Teachers Award ceremony organised by Amar Ujala Group at Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women in Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. At the event, 101 teachers from various schools across Jammu were honoured for their contributions to education.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor praised the teaching community for shaping character and nurturing talent, saying teachers play a crucial role in equipping young minds to navigate an unpredictable world.

“I believe teachers and their craft form the backbone of a society and the soul of the nation,” he said.

He observed that inspirational teachers move beyond rote learning and ignite curiosity among students. He said effective teaching transforms classrooms into spaces where science becomes engaging, history turns into meaningful narratives and learning encourages exploration rather than memorisation.

The Lieutenant Governor said there was a need for more teachers who could turn students from passive listeners into active thinkers. He described classrooms as spaces where futures are shaped through inquiry, questioning and critical thinking.

“To build a knowledge-based and innovation-driven economy, learners must be transformed from passive consumers of information into sharp analysts who can question, examine and apply knowledge,” he said.

He also urged teachers to promote collaboration in classrooms, noting that teamwork would be essential in the world of tomorrow. He said classrooms should function as hubs of collective learning where research, writing and innovation are pursued together.
