Turkish Central Bank Reserves Reach New Peak

(MENAFN) The Turkish Central Bank’s official international reserves achieved an unprecedented high of $215.6 billion as of Jan. 23, according to figures released on Thursday.

The total reserves surged 5.1%, or $10.44 billion, from the previous week’s $205.18 billion, the bank reported.

Reserves held in foreign currencies – in convertible foreign currencies – increased 2.7% to reach $78.5 billion compared to the prior week.

Gold reserves, including gold deposits and gold-swapped holdings, experienced a rise of 6.9%, reaching $129.4 billion during the same timeframe.

Additionally, the combined IMF reserve position and special drawing rights inched up 0.2% to $7.7 billion.

The Turkish Central Bank’s reserves have now broken their record for the second consecutive week. Last week, the bank’s reserves surpassed the $200 billion threshold for the first time.
