Turkey FM Calls On US, Iran To Come To Negotiating Table, Says Talks Are 'Vital'


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said on Friday that Turkey was calling on the United States and Iran to come to the negotiating table to resolve issues between them, reiterating that Ankara opposes foreign intervention in Iran.

At a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araqchi in Istanbul, Fidan said it was 'vital' t for US-Iran talks on the latter's nuclear programme to restart to ease regional tensions.

Turkey's top diplomat also urged Washington to resist Israeli pressure to launch a military strike on Iran, warning it would cause "great harm" to a fragile region.

"We see that Israel is trying to persuade the US to launch a military attack on Iran... We hope the US administration will act with common sense and not allow this to happen," Fidan said.
