What Was Ajit Pawar's Last Post On Social Media Before Death In Plane Crash In Baramati: 'Your Trusted...'

(MENAFN- Live Mint) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party chief Ajit Pawar died after his plane crashed on Wednesday while attempting to land in Baramati. The aircraft had four other personnel on board - a security officer, an attendant, and two crew members, including the pilot-in-command and the first officer.

The aircraft -- a Learjet 45 (registration VT-SSK)-- was attempting an emergency landing at around 8.44 am when it burst into flames, killing all five people on board.

Hours before the tragic crash, Pawar, in a post on X, had underlined the work carried out by his government so far -- a message that appeared routine.

He highlighted the setting up of vocational training institutes, revisions to payment mechanisms for contractors working with the Public Works Department, as well as extensions of lease tenures for government land allotted to departments and private ventures.

Pawar was headed to Baramati to attend a public rally for the Zilla Parishad elections.

What happened?

Flight-tracking platform Flightradar24 reported that after take-off, the aircraft flew over the Arabian Sea before heading towards Baramati. It attempted to land for the first time at around 8.30 am.

According to the operator, the initial attempt was unsuccessful, likely due to poor visibility, following which a second landing attempt was made. The aircraft was on its second approach to Baramati Airport when it crashed, Flightradar24 said in a post on X.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) confirmed that there were no survivors among those on board. Footage from the crash site shows the aircraft's wreckage badly burnt, with flames engulfing it after the accident.

The longest-serving Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, albeit non-consecutively, is survived by his wife Sunetra Pawar and his two sons, Jay and Parth Pawar.
