Professor Berry Billingsley is the Director of AI, Digital and Online Development at Swansea University and Principal Investigator of the Epistemic Insight and Future of Knowledge Initiative. Berry's first career was in science broadcasting at the BBC-on shows like Tomorrow's World and Search Out Science. In her academic work, Berry encourages students of all ages to ask and explore Big Questions like“What does it mean to be human in the age of AI?”. The aims are firstly to develop holistic ways of thinking that open learners' minds to scholarly disciplines they might otherwise have overlooked. Secondly and in resonance with the UNESCO AI design principles, Berry seeks to champions creative and ethical uses of AI that enhance human agency, and catalyse activities that boost in-person sociability.
