Emily Hay
- PhD Candidate in Scottish Literature, University of Glasgow
Emily Hay is a researcher and tutor in Scottish Literature at the University of Glasgow. Her work broadly examines the presentation and self-presentation of women in medieval and early modern Scottish texts, with a particular focus on writing by and about Mary Queen of Scots (1542-1587). Her publications include an article on the connections between Marian poetry and that of other Scottish women writers (Scottish Literary Review), and a chapter on the use of Mary in English nationalist propaganda (Palgrave Macmillan). She has also previously appeared on BBC Radio Scotland discussing Mary's status as a writer and her alleged authorship of the casket sonnets.
