Jammu Teen Held For Links With Pak Handlers: Police
The juvenile, a resident of Bari Brahmana in Jammu, was presently staying in the border area of Sujanpur in Pathankot district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police detained him on Monday for allegedly being in contact with Pakistan military officers, operatives of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and frontal organisations running terror modules across the border.
ADVERTISEMENTSenior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Pathankot, DS Dhillon said the boy had been in touch with Pakistani handlers for nearly a year and was providing information related to India's security.“His mobile phone contains contact numbers of anti-national elements and terrorists based in Pakistan with the intent to spread unrest in India,” the SSP told reporters.
ADVERTISEMENTAccording to police, the teenager's phone contained sensitive information, photographs, videos and espionage-related material concerning Indian Army locations. He was reportedly moving around strategic areas, including Punjab's Madhopur region, after travelling from Jammu and Kashmir.
Based on the findings, a case has been registered against him under various sections of the Official Secrets Act. The boy is currently being questioned, and further investigation is underway.
The SSP said preliminary investigation revealed that the teen became vulnerable through extensive use of social media platforms, where he allegedly fell into a trap laid by Pakistani agencies.“Pakistani agents created a clone of the boy's mobile phone. Being tech-savvy, he videographed important locations and collected sensitive information,” Dhillon said.
