Awqaf Ministry Publishes Book To Revive Islamic Heritage Works
Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, represented by the Department of Islamic Affairs, has published the book 'Durrat al-Tanzīl wa Ghurrat al-Ta'wīl' by the eminent scholar Muhammad ibn Abdullah al-Khatib al-Iskafī (d. 420 AH).
This publication comes as part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to revive Islamic heritage and enrich the Islamic library with foundational works in the sciences of the Holy Qur'an.
The book has been released in three volumes, funded by the Waqf Bank for Scientific and Cultural Development to the General Directorate of Awqaf, in support of disseminating Islamic knowledge, serving researchers and students of knowledge, and strengthening the presence of specialised Qur'anic studies in the academic arena.
In this work, the author addresses one of the most important topics in the sciences of the Qur'an: verses that are similar in wording. He adopts a precise scholarly methodology in presenting these verses, dedicating in each surah an independent discussion to every verse in which he identifies verbal similarity.
He cites their counterparts from other verses, whether within the same surah or in different surahs, then explains them and clarifies the distinctions between them through an approach based on posing the question, presenting the answer, and responding to potential objections. This reflects deep scholarship and a rigorous analytical method.
This edition, edited and critically verified by Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Aydin, is distinguished by meticulous academic editing. It includes footnotes, additions, and annotations for verification and documentation. It is also furnished with a variety of detailed indexes that facilitate its use by researchers and specialists. This edition underwent scholarly proofreading and review by the Department's Section for Islamic Publications and Works, in accordance with the approved standards for publishing heritage texts.
The Ministry explained that the book is distributed to beneficiaries holding postgraduate degrees in Sharia, as well as to cultural institutions, universities, and public libraries.
The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs affirmed that the publication of this book falls within its vision to revive Islamic heritage through collection, verification, printing, and distribution, and to bring to light the treasures of manuscripts in the sciences of the Qur'an and the Sunnah.
This contributes to serving researchers and students of knowledge within Qatar and beyond, and to reinforcing the Ministry's position as a leading scholarly beacon. in supporting Islamic research and disseminating authentic Islamic knowledge.
