Helicopter Collision in New Jersey Goes Under Investigation

(MENAFN) Local reports confirmed that at least one individual lost their life after two helicopters collided in New Jersey on Sunday afternoon, according to US officials.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) stated that an Enstrom F-28A and an Enstrom 280C helicopter struck each other mid-air near Hammonton Municipal Airport, a small town in the state. The agency noted that only the pilots were aboard each aircraft.

One pilot was killed instantly, while the other was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, a news agency reported.

Footage shared on social media appeared to capture one helicopter spinning uncontrollably before hitting the ground. In another video, a column of smoke was visible rising from one of the alleged crash sites.

According to the FAA, the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has assumed responsibility for the investigation and will release further updates.
