Two North Carolina police officers are critically injured in shooting
(MENAFN) Two law enforcement officers were left in critical condition after being shot Friday morning in North Carolina, according to official accounts.
Reports said the shooting took place at about 10:47 a.m. local time in the town of Mint Hill.
Officers had been dispatched to a retail location along Matthews–Mint Hill Road following a report involving a child custody exchange.
While officers were handling the situation, a man allegedly produced a firearm, triggering an exchange of gunfire at the scene.
Both officers were struck by gunfire and sustained life-threatening injuries, authorities said.
The individual involved was also shot during the confrontation and died at the location.
