Türkiye’s Defense, Aerospace Exports Soar to USD8.5B
(MENAFN) Türkiye's defense and aerospace sector achieved $8.5 billion in exports during the current year, the nation's top defense official revealed Thursday, marking a significant milestone for the rapidly expanding industry.
Türkiye's Defense Industries Secretary Haluk Gorgun made the announcement during the 7th Defense Industry Meetings, a collaborative event staged by the Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) and SAHA Istanbul designed to strengthen the domestic foundation of Türkiye's defense manufacturing capabilities and unite diverse industry stakeholders.
The annual gathering centered on "Supply Chain and Sustainability" as its primary themes this year.
Roketsan's Chief Executive Murat Ikinci, leading one of the Turkish defense sector's flagship companies, highlighted a dramatic transformation in the industry's self-sufficiency. He revealed that the external dependence rate of Turkish defense industry fell to 20%, from around 80%.
When questioned about projected export figures for the defense industry in the coming year, Murat Ikinci said, "I think it would be accurate to say that it will exceed $10 billion. It's constantly increasing. This year it increased by over 30%, and we frankly want to maintain a similar rate next year as well."
The robust growth trajectory underscores Türkiye's expanding role as a major global defense equipment supplier, with sustained momentum anticipated as domestic production capabilities continue strengthening and international demand rises.
