Doha, Qatar: As Qatar once again united Arab nations in Doha during the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, strong messages of solidarity with the Palestinian people were on display across the capital.

For years, Qatar has spared no effort in supporting Palestinians, ranging from mediation initiatives and humanitarian aid to the directive of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to provide medical treatment in Qatar for wounded Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

The Peninsula spoke with two wounded Palestinians currently receiving medical care in Qatar, who shared their journeys from war-torn Gaza to Doha and reflected on the care and compassion they have experienced.

Sahar, a Palestinian woman who sustained serious injuries to her legs and back during the war in Gaza, told The Peninsula that Qatar“made every effort to take care of us.” She explained that after her injury, she waited for nearly two and a half months before arrangements were made for her transfer to Egypt, where she underwent surgery and remained for another two months and half before being moved to Doha.

For nearly two years now, Sahar has been living in Qatar, which she described as“a place that helped improve our mental well-being.” She said that being in Qatar gave her“a second chance at life,” praising the wide range of activities and supportive environment that helped her regain hope.

“We are getting better here, and hopefully things will continue to improve, and we will be reunited with our families again,” she said.

Maryam, a young Palestinian girl who lost one of her legs in the war, also expressed her appreciation for Qatar. Attending the Palestine versus Saudi Arabia match at Lusail Stadium, she said she enjoyed the experience despite her team's defeat.

“I love being in Qatar, especially Sealine,” Maryam said, adding that the many activities available make her feel happy and safe. Qatar has played a leading role in supporting Palestinians through sustained humanitarian efforts, including hosting wounded civilians, facilitating medical evacuations, and providing long-term care in coordination with international and regional partners.

The country has also contributed significant humanitarian assistance to Gaza through food aid, medical supplies, shelter support, and reconstruction initiatives.

In addition to humanitarian support, Qatar remains a key mediator in efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, working closely with regional and international partners to reduce suffering, protect civilians, and pave the way for lasting peace.

These combined efforts reflect Qatar's longstanding commitment to standing with the Palestinian people in both times of crisis and recovery.
