Doha: General Manager of the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) and Chairman of the Host Committee for the 2025 World Arabian Horse Championship Supreme, Prof. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti announced the launch of the first edition of the championship in Doha at a press conference yesterday.

The event will be held at the Old Doha Port on Friday and Saturday, December 5 and 6, marking the second time the championship is taking place outside of France since its inception 44 years ago.

Al-Sulaiti affirmed that Katara is hosting the championship events with the participation of 70 horses from 10 countries, all of which qualified through international rounds held in the Gulf, Europe, and the Americas. He noted that the total prize money amounts to ¤4.9m, reflecting the scale and international prestige of the championship. He explained that this event represents a significant milestone in the history of the Arabian Horse Tour, bringing together the elite horses that have won top positions in international competitions, amidst a competition imbued with profound cultural and historical value connected to the Arabian horse and its enduring role in the Arab consciousness.

He pointed out that the qualifying journey included extensive international stops, including Qatar, Muscat, Riyadh, and Ajman, as well as European stops in Cannes, Valkensworth, Prague, and London. The journey also included rounds in the United States, such as Scottsdale, Miami, Denver, and Las Vegas, culminating in São Paulo, Brazil, where horses from various countries demonstrated high levels of skill and excellence. Al-Sulaiti expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and partners.

The conference was attended by Sheikh Mohammed bin Nasser Al Thani, a member of the organizing committee and Executive Vice President of the Arabian Horse Tour, and Bader Mohammed Al-Darwish, the championship director.
