My research is focussed on the practice of outdoor swimming in North West England. I explore how outdoor swimming can transform swimmers' health, but also how swimmers are immersed in, and implicated in, broader issues such as water quality and climate change.
I am particularly interested in how swimmers can develop feelings of connection to their bodies, sense of selves and to flora and fauna, and how the practice can engender manifestations of wildness, which affect how swimmers experience themselves and their waterscapes.
