Zelenskyy Holds High-Level Talks in Paris

(MENAFN) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that he participated in a joint call in Paris with French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to evaluate recent discussions with the United States in Florida, which aimed at bringing an end to the conflict with Russia.

Zelenskyy described the briefing with Ukrainian delegation head Rustem Umerov and US President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff as “important,” emphasizing that the teams would coordinate schedules for in-person follow-up meetings.

The Ukrainian president noted that he and Macron engaged in several hours of talks in Paris, concentrating on initiatives to conclude the war and establish long-term assurances for both Ukraine and Europe.

“Peace must become truly durable … much now depends on the involvement of every leader,” Zelenskyy added, stressing the critical role of international collaboration.

He also underscored the broader European framework included in the discussions — encompassing France, the UK, Germany, Poland, Italy, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Finland, the European Commission, the European Council, and NATO’s secretary general — describing it as a valuable forum for harmonizing positions ahead of upcoming meetings.

According to Zelenskyy, the group reviewed the core points of the Florida negotiations with the American side and agreed on the necessity of making headway toward a “fair end” to the conflict.

Umerov, posting separately on Facebook, mentioned that he had consulted with Zelenskyy after returning from two days of “very productive” talks in the US.

He highlighted “significant progress” but acknowledged that several matters still require further clarification.
