EU Participating In Consultations On Peace Talks In Ukraine European Commission
At a briefing, journalists asked Pinho about EU coordination with the United States and the specific steps Brussels is taking to influence the negotiation process following the meeting of Ukrainian and American delegations in Florida.
“Over the weekend, several conversations took place at various levels on the topic of the peace negotiations regarding Ukraine,” Pinho said.
She also reminded reporters of a phone call between European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“And you may have also seen that there was a call between President von der Leyen and President Zelensky where they discussed, notably, next steps in terms of the ongoing peace negotiations and in particular, those aspects which are of direct concern to the EU,” added the spokesperson.
“So indeed, talks are ongoing at different levels, and we are making sure that what are also EU interests and Ukraine's interests linked to the EU are conveyed to our counterparts in these many talks that are taking place,” Pinho emphasized.
