KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock has participated in an international conference on animal health in Moscow and called on regional countries to invest in livestock development and animal health in Afghanistan.

Mawlawi Attaullah Omari said Afghanistan is an agricultural country and the majority of its population is engaged in livestock farming. However, in recent years, the spread of animal diseases has affected livestock production-particularly impacting people's lives and the national economy.

He urged regional countries to invest in Afghanistan's livestock sector and animal health services, assuring that the Islamic Emirate will provide necessary facilities for investors through relevant government agencies.

Omari stressed that strengthening scientific and technical cooperation could play an effective role in diagnosing, preventing and properly managing animal diseases.

According to the conference organizers, participants also called for joint programs to improve animal health and for the exchange of professional expertise between countries.
