Srinagar- The National Conference is set to convene a two day meeting of its Central Working Committee in Srinagar from Thursday. The meeting will be chaired by party president Farooq Abdullah at Nawa i Subah and will be attended by Chief Minister and NC vice president Omar Abdullah, cabinet ministers, MPs, MLAs and senior functionaries.

A key point of interest will be whether NC's estranged MP Aga Ruhullah attends. Ruhullah has been in open disagreement with the party leadership on several issues and had skipped campaigning for the party in the Budgam assembly segment, a move many believe weakened NC's prospects. While he did not back any contestant, his supporters are understood to have voted for PDP's Aga Muntazir Mehdi.

The meeting is expected to review the recent by poll losses, particularly in Budgam, long seen as an NC stronghold. PDP's Aga Muntazir Mehdi, backed by Peoples Conference's Imran Reza Ansari and PDF's Hakim Muhammad Yasin, defeated NC's Aga Syed Mehmood by 4,478 votes.
