UNIDO Opens 21St Conf. In Riyadh


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- The 21st General Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) opened in Riyadh on Sunday with industry leaders, experts, and representatives of international organizations from 173 countries taking part.
The conference, co-organized by UNIDO and the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources under the umbrella of the "Global Industry Summit 2025," is themed "The power of investment and partnerships to accelerate the Sustainable Development Goals."
Addressing the opening session, Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Bandar Al-Khorayef said the Kingdom's Vision 2030 charted the future of national industry and aimed at turning the Kingdom into highly competitive global power.
The national strategy for industry created more than 800 investment opportunities in various promising industries such as electric cars, robotics and clean energy through 2035, he pointed out.
More than 150 speakers at the conference, including 20 ministers and 35 CEOs of global corporations, are expected to explore ways to ensure sustainable manufacturing, strengthen cooperation between major industrialized and developing nations, and empower women and youth to play an integral role in shaping the future of global industry.
The conference, being hosted at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center, will last until November 27.
It serves as a global platform to chart the future of sustainable industry and a roadmap connecting digital transformation, climate action, and economic resilience. It will also play a key role in unifying a comprehensive industrial agenda across both emerging and advanced economies. (end)
