King of Jordan tours industrial facilities in Al Qastal area in Amman
(MENAFN) His Majesty King Abdullah visited industrial facilities in the Al Qastal area of southern Amman on Tuesday, receiving briefings on their contributions to the Jordanian market and their role in exporting local products, according to reports.
The King first toured the factories of Pharma International Company, a subsidiary of Axantia Group. CEO Abdulmonem Alali briefed him on the company’s operations, noting that it fulfills around 17 percent of local medicine demand and accounts for 11 percent of Jordan’s pharmaceutical exports.
Alali said Axantia operates in 19 countries across the region and employs more than 700 staff, 96 percent of whom are Jordanians, with 25 percent being women. He emphasized the company’s role in training and developing Jordanian talent. Axantia Chairman Ziad Al Tunisi highlighted that the company is a joint venture between Saudi Arabia’s Al Faisaliah Group and Pharma International Company, aimed at enhancing drug safety and developing the regional pharmaceutical industry.
The King then visited Haj Mahmoud Habibah and Sons factories, where CEO Mundher Habibah provided an overview of the 75-year-old company’s production lines and expansion plans. The company employs over 500 staff, 90 percent of whom are Jordanian, and supplies a variety of sweets to the local market, exporting to more than 20 countries. The factory operates four branches in Jordan and three in Saudi Arabia and is considered one of the largest confectionery producers in the Middle East.
King Abdullah concluded his visit at Jitan Group (Paradise Bakeries), where Chairman and CEO Mohammed AlJitan briefed him on the factory’s operations and plans to expand production.
The facility supplies five branches and produces food products for the World Food Programme.
AlJitan noted that the group operates across several sectors, providing 450 jobs and exporting to over 20 countries.
The King was accompanied during the visit by Director of the Office of His Majesty, Alaa Batayneh.
