Dhaka: Boeing and Gulf Air said the Bahraini carrier has finalised a firm order for 15 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with options for three more, bringing its total 787 commitment to 17 jets.

The agreement, signed at the Dubai Airshow by Gulf Air CEO Martin Gauss and Boeing senior vice president Brad McMullen, adds three aircraft to a preliminary deal announced in July.

Gulf Air Group chairman Khalid Husain Taqi said the order supports the airline's long-term fleet strategy by boosting capacity, strengthening long-haul operations and improving sustainability.

Gulf Air currently operates 10 787s serving more than 50 destinations across Asia, Europe and the United States.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes CEO Stephanie Pope said the order highlights the 787's efficiency and passenger-comfort features, including large windows, lower cabin altitude and technology that reduces turbulence.
