(MENAFN- UkrinForm) She made the remarks in a comment to Reuters on Wednesday, according to Ukrinform.

"They are acting very forcefully. There is no room for corruption, especially now. I mean, it is literally the people's money that should go to the front lines," Kallas said on the sidelines of a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Canada, commenting on President Volodymyr Zelensky's calls to dismiss two ministers amid an investigation into a possible $100 million corruption scheme that sparked public outrage.

"I think what is very important that they really proceed with this very fast and take it very seriously," she added.

On November 10, Ukraine's National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) announced a special operation exposing corruption in the energy sector. According to investigators, members of a criminal organization had established a large-scale scheme to influence strategic state enterprises, including Energoatom.

Later, the bureau stated that seven people are suspects, including a businessman considered the head of the criminal organization, a former advisor to the energy minister, Energoatom's executive director for physical protection and security, and four employees of a back office involved in money laundering. Five of them have been detained.

EU Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos noted that the initial response at the highest political level in Ukraine to the recent anti-corruption revelations was encouraging, emphasizing that ultimately Ukraine's judicial system must determine whether the law was broken and by whom.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry responded to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's statement refusing aid to Ukraine citing corruption. Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said that Orban cannot reproach Ukraine for corruption while himself being implicated in corruption scandals.

Earlier in 2025, Hungary was officially denied EUR 1.04 billion in EU funding, which the bloc froze over corruption allegations.
