Delhi Blast Sparks Terror Probe

(MENAFN) Indian officials are considering a possible terrorist angle behind the explosion in Delhi on Monday that resulted in the deaths of at least 12 individuals, sources told a news agency.

The blast occurred during rush hour in a vehicle close to a metro station near the Red Fort, a 17th-century landmark frequently visited by tourists.

Home Minister Amit Shah stated that investigators were examining “all angles” in the ongoing probe.

According to local outlets, police have registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, legislation often used in investigations related to terror incidents.

Recent reports indicate that Indian security forces have thwarted multiple terror plots, accompanied by arrests and seizures.

On Monday, authorities detained two individuals and confiscated 2,900kg of materials used for crafting Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and other bomb-making components in Faridabad, within the Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR).

The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) announced on Sunday that it apprehended three suspected terrorists allegedly linked to Islamic State from Ahmedabad, a media outlet reported.

Additionally, the Rajasthan ATS disclosed on November 7 that it had arrested a cleric with purported ties to Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan, a known terror organization.

In April, a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir claimed 26 lives and escalated tensions between India and Pakistan.

At that time, New Delhi declared that any subsequent terrorist assault in India would be treated as an act of war.
