Russian Propaganda Spreading Fake Tiktok Videos About 'Encirclement Of Kupiansk'

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the Center for Countering Disinformation under Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council reported this on Telegram.

"The enemy's propaganda has launched a series of fake TikTok videos about the alleged 'complete encirclement of Kupiansk' by Russian troops. In the clips, AI-generated 'Ukrainian soldiers' talk about a 'critical situation' in this sector of the front," the statement said.

The center said these videos are fabrications created with artificial intelligence. Their use of generative technology can easily be identified by unnatural facial expressions and a monotone, synthetic voice. Another telltale sign is that the fake "soldiers" incorrectly stress the word Kupiansk (placing the stress on 'ia' instead of the correct 'u').

In reality, claims of a "complete encirclement of Kupiansk" by Russian forces are false. Intense fighting continues in the area, and Ukrainian troops are holding back the Russians, the center said.

Such publications are part of Russia's ongoing information operations aimed at demoralizing Ukrainians. Russian fakes are becoming increasingly sophisticated, making it essential to verify sources and approach "sensational" social media videos critically.
