Brendon J. Cannon is associate professor of international security at Khalifa University of Science and Technology, Abu Dhabi, UAE. His research is at the nexus of security studies and geopolitics, often with an emphasis on transformative tech. His major focus is on the Indo-Pacific, broadly, and the western Indian Ocean region to include east Africa. He is the author of multiple articles appearing in African Security, International Politics, Defence Studies and Third World Quarterly. Prior to joining Khalifa University he held academic positions in Nairobi and Hargeisa.
