Israeli Army Detains Twelve Palestinians in West Bank

(MENAFN) The Israeli military apprehended twelve Palestinians during a series of operations throughout the occupied West Bank on Sunday, as reported by local informants.

In the southern part of the region, military units took into custody three young Palestinians in Hebron and two others in Bethlehem following home raids and searches, according to an official news agency.

In central West Bank, Israeli soldiers detained an additional three Palestinians in Ramallah, as stated by sources cited by a news agency.

Meanwhile, in the northern West Bank, two more Palestinians were seized at the Al-Ain refugee camp in Nablus, while two others were captured in eastern Qalqilya after reportedly being assaulted by Israeli forces, the sources added.

As per the Commission of Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Society, Israel has detained over 20,000 Palestinians since October 2023.

More than 9,100 of them remain in custody, alongside hundreds held in military facilities.

Within the same timeframe, assaults carried out by the Israeli army and unlawful settlers in the occupied West Bank have resulted in the deaths of 1,069 Palestinians and injuries to over 10,300 individuals.

In a historic judgment issued last July, the International Court of Justice pronounced Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land as unlawful and urged the removal of all settlements situated in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
