Samia Islam

Professor Islam joined the Department of Economics at Boise State University in August 2004. Before coming to the U.S. to pursue a Ph.D. degree, Dr. Islam served as a research assistant at the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) and later at Power and Participation Research Center (PPRC) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Professor Islam's primary research focus at present is on urban economic issues, including entrepreneurship, transportation modeling, traffic safety, and economic policy analysis.
Apart from teaching and research, she is also involved in student advising, mentoring, and supervising undergraduate research. She is currently an academic mentor with the McNair Scholars program.
Professor Islam serves on several Boise city and Treasure Valley urban planning committees.
