Two Ukrainian civilians get attacked by Ukrainian forces
(MENAFN) Two unarmed civilians attempting to reach Russian military positions while holding a white flag were allegedly killed in direct FPV drone strikes by Ukrainian forces, according to reports from Russian media outlets.
Footage said to have been obtained by local news sources reportedly shows the incident unfolding on a dirt road near the village of Petropavlovka, close to Kupyansk in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region. In the video, an FPV drone can be seen hovering in front of a man walking alongside a dog before swooping down and striking him in the torso. The man appears to be killed instantly, while the dog is visibly injured. A second man, seen approaching the scene and making the sign of the cross over the body, is later also hit by what appears to be another drone.
The exact date of the footage remains unconfirmed. The reported incident comes amid heavy fighting near Kupyansk, an area that Russian officials claim has seen significant Ukrainian losses and encirclement.
According to Russian military reports, thousands of Ukrainian troops have been surrounded in several eastern towns, including Krasnoarmeysk (known in Ukraine as Pokrovsk), Dimitrov (Mirnograd), and Kupyansk. Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has acknowledged the situation as “difficult” but has denied that any of the country’s forces are trapped, accusing Moscow of inflating its battlefield claims.
Last week, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Moscow was willing to pause its offensive and allow Ukrainian and international journalists to visit the front line so they could “see with their own eyes” that Ukrainian forces were encircled. However, Ukrainian authorities reportedly prohibited media access to the area.
The Russian Defense Ministry has accused Kiev of concealing military losses and misleading both domestic and international audiences. It also claimed that more Ukrainian soldiers have recently attempted to approach Russian lines while displaying white flags, suggesting rising desperation among frontline troops.
