Viva, the Mexican airline known for its flexibility, celebrates the arrival of its first service in Costa Rica with the Monterrey (MTY) – San José (SJO) – Monterrey (MTY) route. It arrives to connect Costa Rican travelers with one of Mexico's most important cities, where they will find new opportunities for vacationing and doing business, as well as taking advantage of the extensive air connectivity network from Monterrey, its home base, which makes it easy to fly to the best destinations in Mexico and the United States.

We appreciate the trust placed in us by Viva Air and the first Mexican tourists who inaugurated this route. We hope they enjoy an experience that captures the essence of Pura Vida while they enjoy our nature, beaches, volcanoes, cuisine, and the hospitality of Costa Ricans. We hope this flight will help strengthen the bonds of friendship between two sister nations, boosting tourism, trade, and social progress in our communities ,” said William Rodríguez, Costa Rica's Minister of Tourism.

The new Monterrey–San José –Monterrey route has two weekly flights on Mondays and Fridays from Monterrey, and Tuesdays and Saturdays from San José, as it is a night flight. Upon arrival, travelers can enjoy the extensive connectivity that Viva offers from Monterrey, where they can connect to more than 45 domestic and international destinations.

These include major cities and tourist destinations such as Mexico City and Guadalajara, as well as the beaches of Acapulco, Cancun, Cozumel, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta; more than a dozen cities in the United States such as Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, Oakland-San Francisco, and the recently announced New York, among many other destinations.

“Today we landed in Costa Rica with great excitement to connect its people with Monterrey, our home, and the entire network of destinations we offer from this airport. Starting today, Viva is another ally for Costa Rica's air connectivity. We continue to expand our wide range of destinations, always aboard Mexico's youngest fleet and with the most powerful ticket on the market,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Grupo Viva Aerobus.

The following map shows the routes that Viva operates from Monterrey:

This news comes as Viva, Mexico's leading low-cost airline, celebrates its 19th anniversary. Since its inception in 2006, it has carried more than 180 million passengers across its network, which now exceeds 190 routes to more than 60 destinations in Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Cuba, and now Costa Rica. The airline has seven operating bases in Monterrey, Mexico City (AICM and AIFA), Guadalajara, Cancun, Merida, and Tijuana. Viva recently celebrated a historic milestone with the arrival of its 100th aircraft, consolidating its fleet as the youngest and most modern in Mexico and Latin America, currently consisting of 58 Airbus A320 and 43 A321 aircraft.

One of the great benefits Viva offers its passengers is Doters, the airline's loyalty program that already has more than 10 million members. With Doters, each trip earns Doters Points, which can be exchanged for additional benefits for your flight or rewards with Viva and its partners, including ground transportation with Vivabus.
